On Monday, February 23rd, I had my fourth tutoring session with my advanced foundations student, Saaja. We met in front of Strozier Library like our other sessions. This was my last tutoring session with Saaja.
Saaja did not have much school work to work on, so I asked her what she felt she needed help with. She said that she was not sure, so I had her talk to me about things that she had done before so she could practice the past tense. I worry that Saaja is lacking improvement with her speaking, because she is so quiet. I think that she lacks confidence in herself and that this is hindering her ability to learn. Once I got Saaja talking, she articulated her sentences very well.
I definitely noticed Saaja improving throughout our sessions, but not as much as my other Advanced Foundations student, Angelica, did. I know that Saaja has already been in Advanced Foundations twice, and i really hope that she can advance in the next session. I think that her biggest issue in confidence in her knowledge and not speaking up.
