Zoe TP #14
Wei asked if he could record this tutoring session for a homework assignment, and of course I was fine with that. While most of our session had been a mix of speaking and listening, he expressed that he wanted this one to be more listening-focused. He spent the majority of the lesson asking me a series of simple questions and asked for a 2-3 minute response to each of them. When he asked what my favorite sport was, I told him that it was racquetball, which was actually a good learning experience because he didn't know that racquetball was! I told him that we would have to play at the gym sometime after spring break. He also asked me what I like to do to relax, and I told him about how I enjoy driving and what some of my favorite places to drive to were. The questions didn't deviate too much from those topics. Whenever he didn't know the meaning of a word, he would ask me to repeat and define it. I appreciate that he does that, because I know that he just as easily could have pretended to understand me. However, he really wants his grasp on English to be as good as it can possibly be, and I am so proud of his progress!
