Elyce TP #13

On Friday, February 20th, I had my fifth tutoring session with my Advanced Foundations student, Angelica. We met at the Starbucks by campus after she was finished with CIES school. Like usual, Angelica had her work out and was already studying when I arrived. This was Angelica and I's last tutoring session.

Angelica had been reading stories online, and had a list of words that she didn't understand. I explained to her the meaning, and used them in a sentence. She had particular trouble understanding the word 'shower' (as in rain shower) and we looked up pictures online in order for her to gain a more complete meaning. After this, I explained to her how to use the context of a sentence to understand the meaning of a new vocabulary. Then, Angelica told me about her plans to go back to Chile now that CIES was over.

Angelica was a wonderful tutee, and I'm so glad that I got to know her over the past few weeks! She was always so eager to learn and you could tell that she really put a lot of effort into her school work. I think that this is why she improved so much over the course of the session.
