Briggs TP#7
P.J. picked out a book from the library about extraordinary animals. The book was fascinating! Even I learned new vocabulary. Did you know catfish have barbels? Yes, barbels. Did you know a certain species of eels swim for 5 years across the ocean to find a river? My enthusiasm for the subject surprised P.J. When I asked him comprehension questions he asked me if I already knew the answer or if I was testing him. I told him I was testing him and he seemed to appreciate my honestly. I felt that I had found a rhythm in the sense that I now knew better how to quiz him, in way in which his affective filters were lowered. We closed the session with a game of 'Word Crack'; he didn't want to stop playing : ) It was our last session together and we both new it. I let him play an extra 15 minutes because he (we) were enjoying it so. I told him I would tell his mom about the game and see if she would be interested in downloading it for him. Before I left, he showed me how his dad had downloaded the game to their iPad. Oh, and I made P.J. smile. That made my day!
