Mohammed wanted to work on listening skills. We started out by discussing how my first time teaching a class went. I explained to him the minimal pairs game I played with the class and that we used a Katy Perry song for a dictation activity. So we decided to use the same activity to work on listening. This song was fairly simple for him and we breezed through it the first time with only 1 blank left unanswered. He thought it was level appropriate for the class I taught with Catherine. After the listening activity, we watched a TED talk on dealing with stress, and since I had already seen the video in a classroom observation it made it easier for me to ask him comprehension questions about the video. After watching the video most of the way through, I asked him a few questions to make sure he understood the TED talk. He understood most of it, with only a few questions regarding dealing with stress.
