Ahmed complained about words that sounder writing is different. Example pit vs pet, he pronounced the e like an i. I told him the pronunciation difference and irregularities of the language. I used the word vegetable and he dah a lot of problems with the letter e.

I asked him of how many words he has on his vocabulary (perceptive) and he has about 3,000 words. He has very good speaking abilities but he complains about not being able to the future verb tenses.

I recommended for him to buy at the FSU Bookstore the English Verbs Quick study academic guide which has a good explanation on page 2. Quickstudy.com

I suggested Ahmed to focus on daily used words and sentence construction using future verb tenses. He can also practice speaking to his Tutor and conversation partners.                  

Lesson Learned: Always remind students to be patient with themselves and keep on practicing. They can listen English music and watch TV. He can practice with his wife and kids. He is very friendly and receptive to advice.
