On Wednesday, February 10th, I had my fourth tutoring session with Zoe and Rina. The girls are so sweet and I really look forward to our tutoring sessions each week. When I arrived at their house, they were eager to show me stories that they had written in class.
The girls and I began our tutoring session by reading a book that they had gotten from the library. Zoe and Rina took turns reading pages, and they were very into the story. They even were using different tones and inflections! After they finished reading, they told me that there was a short film based on the book, and I had to watch it. I told them I would. We then worked in their reading comprehension books. Rina finished three pages, but Zoe was having a bit of trouble. After helping her, I realized that her problem was not that she wasn't understanding the material, but that she was going to fast when she was reading. When she slowed down she got every answer correct.
As I was leaving the girls each gave me a valentine! They are so much fun to tutor, because they are always so excited to learn.
