Briggs TP#6

In this session we reviewed homework errors from his schoolwork. I extended my lesson in test taking strategies while reviewing comprehension questions from the exercises. I saw an opportunity in the lesson to point out some words that are homophones and discuss such. We then did an exercise on homonyms. There were photos of the words: bat, fan, etc. He cut out the appropriate photos and placed them in their corresponding spots. He then used each word in a sentence (written). He executed the exercise perfectly with the exception of 'fan', as in, an avid sports fan. I modeled sentences using the word fan until he understood. I then asked him if he was a fan of any sports. I told him I was a fan of soccer. I asked him if he was a fan of superman, he said no. I told him more things I was a fan of, he said his mom was a fan of soccer and that it was his favorite sport. I said it was mine as well and told him I used to play in High School, he seemed surprised but I knew that he now understood 'fan'. We closed the exercise with a very exciting game of 'Word Crack'.
