TP Session #13 – 2/25/2105
I had my second-to-last session with Young-Seo on Wednesday.
We studied some vocabulary and practiced using the words in sentences.
Young-Seo was quite bored by this, as the words were easy for her. I had wanted
to practice more writing with her, but she was increasingly impatient with
anything that she had to sit still for. Letter writing, story writing, nothing
really kept her attention to start with.
The activity that DID finally engage her was writing notes
back and forth on a piece of paper. I started off with “Hello, Youngseo! How
are you?” and told her that we could only talk like this now. She immediately
got excited about this new game and started using all the writing ability she
had to try to write funny messages back to me. It struck me as a good way to
practice fast, creative writing with younger kids. We finished by looking
around the library for books together. She found one about airplanes and we
read it until her parents came.
