Briggs TP#8

For this session, I observed Damil's tutoring lesson. Damil tutors P.J. as well, so it was very interesting to observe his class. I thought Damil did an excellent job. He was very natural with P.J. and I could tell P.J. looked up to him. Damil did a good job of modeling sentences to P.J. when he came across a word P.J. did not understand. He would model the sentence two or three different ways; at times, including a question but in a very suave manner. It seemed less like Damil was 'teaching' a lesson to P.J. and more like he was going over the lesson 'with' P.J.; like they were in this together. It was very affective. Damil is very patient, calm, and with a gentle smile. I feel that he is a very affective teacher.
