Zoe TP #11
For my meeting with Wei, we decided to have a change of scenery (since we always meet at the Starbucks across from CIES) and meet on Landis Green for lunch instead. This was super nice for me, because I lived in Landis Hall for my freshman year and have a lot of fond memories on that field. (I can't believe I'm leaving Tallahassee for good in less than two months!) Tim came with me to observe, and the conversation was flowing very well! I've definitely seen a big improvement in Wei's speaking and listening skills since we started! Since our main focus has been speaking and listening, we spent the first half of the session having casual conversation. His primary goal for our tutoring sessions was to improve his casual conversation skills, and I'm very happy with his progress! For the last half of the session, we discussed our plans for spring break. Tim and I are driving to Key West, so we showed Wei a map and elaborated on how a typical college road trip goes in America. We have no real plans, we're just going to drive until we see something cool! Wei seemed to really appreciate the relaxed nature of the trip, and he said that this session was a good lesson on American culture, especially Floridian culture. He's going to Orlando (my hometown) for spring break, so I told him that I would help him plan his trip during our next session together.
