Briggs CO#2

I observed Vicky Golen's group 1A, speaking class. She started off the class by giving a comprehension quiz from the previous lesson. Afterwards, she explained that she was going to pass out roles and situations (declining a party invitation, asking a girl on a date, etc.) and the students were to break up into pairs; in order to prepare and practice their dialogues. She explained the directions very clearly and concisely. I observed the groups as they practiced as did Vicky. Most of the students were laughing and excited while creating the dialogue. Others were more concentrated and serious yet highly engaged in the exercise. When it came time to present, the hams of the class became apparent. Each group presented their dialogues and the other students were engaged in observation of each presentation. Vicky provided error correction and asked questions to the class after each discussion. There were lots of opportunities for the students to practice speaking English. She used a student centered approach with made for a fun, interactive lesson.
