Burns TP #8
Starting at 7:00 PM on February 3, we experienced the first moderately successful session with David. Previous sessions had exceeded expectations and the extra time that he spent on his math homework may have contributed to a 100 on his math test on February 4th. He also completed a fairly difficult language arts assignment as homework for his class. He also reviewed several new vocabulary words, demonstrating knowledge of 70% and facility (minimal) with each of them. With prompting, he did manage to create a sentence with the other 30%, but random rechecks demonstrated failure to comprehend 30%. This was the successful work and did represent progress. That took an hour, but we also have an objective to read at least one chapter of a grade appropriate book and write a good summary. After a thirty minute effort by me and his mom, beyond the first hour, David managed to sidestep any reading and wrote no summary. These summaries are a journal requirement by his teacher. David acted out and demonstrated pent up energy and lack of focus for the first time. We thought that he might be over tired. We were wrong.
