Docster CO #2

On Monday I observed Ryan Flemming's level 4 grammar class. He had a good command of the flow of the lesson, going over the agenda at both the beginning and end of class, using the syllabus as a guide. The topic was adverb clauses, and he decided to lecture on the grammar knowledge before jumping into an activity. He had his students take notes for reference later during the period, and provided concrete examples. Then the students did an activity called "pass the paper" in which following a simple sentence, they would each individually add on an adverbial clause. This activity was done both as a class, and in pairs, giving students two opportunities to practice what they had just learned. Ryan incorporated old information, such as the use of the past perfect tense, in the context of the new information. The class time was managed well, and Ryan kept a clock up at all times to make sure they were on track.
