There were two main differences that I noticed that happened in his session that I tried to take note of and integrate into my next session.
The first was that Damil gave PJ a decent amount of independence when reading. I think in the beginning I tended to hover a little, and even though I have backed off since, Damil definitely allowed PJ more autonomy than I did. I think I allowed myself to be too much of a crutch for him sometimes, when answering questions and such, I would jump in too early. However, Damil let PJ answer the questions on his own until he had a problem, and PJ did a really good job.
The second difference I noticed was that Damil was better at articulating why PJ was wrong. That continues to be my biggest problem. I know why PJ is wrong however sometimes I have a problem saying it at PJ's level, which I can tell leaves him frustrated occasionally. Damil was very good at explaining things in a level-appropriate way, which I was impressed with, because I am still working on it.
Overall, I think it was really good to see how Damil's session went-- it gave me things to work towards to. It also showed me that despite these two differences, our sessions generally have the same pattern/ flow.
