Meredith TP #9

I tutored PJ the Saturday morning of Valentine's Day, and I think it was our best session yet. He was definitely tired when I got there, but it went very well. After observing Damil's session with PJ on Tuesday I decided to let PJ have a little more autonomy this session, and though I still definitely had to help him, it went very well. He answered almost all 12 questions on his own with no help from me. The questions he struggles with usually, summarizing/ main topic/ opinion (occasionally), where still his hardest, but he has improved at those too. He knows what to look for now and is finding the correct answer much quicker.
Before he had trouble discerning the difference between fact and opinion, but he has improved drastically at that. He can find the answer almost immediately. The passage in his booklet was on Vikings, and we finished it a lot quicker than any others we had done before.
We moved onto correcting his wrong answers from his Silk Road booklet, and he did well with that too. His problems came, again, from the summarizing questions. But even in that sense he is getting better at getting to the right answer once he knows he has picked the wrong one.
Overall, I was able to see PJ's improvement a lot this session. His reading comprehension and focus have both improved a lot since the beginning of the year, and it's really cool to see!
