During this tutoring session, Kaori and I worked on a Salem Witch Trial worksheet. She underlined a few words that she didn't understand, and we took turns reading every other paragraph. I had to explain quite a few words, and even looked up one word in Japanese simply because I couldn't really get through to her. >.< However, we got through the article and Kaori generally understood what was going on. We then answered a few questions and completed the reading portion of our tutoring session.
Kaori was really interested in having me pronounce several verbs in their different tenses. This took a solid 7 minutes (she recorded me)! She was super happy that I did this and was bouncing up and down. We then started talking about how she's moving back to Japan after CIES and how she doesn't want to go. I told her last week would be our last tutoring session and she actually seemed sad!
Very successful tutoring buddy. :)
