Student Name: Mutaz Bakri                                                                                                                      Date: Friday, February 13-2015                                                                                                                                                                       Location: Starbucks next to CIES, 5:00pm.

Skill – Speaking and Vocabulary acquisition

Mutaz started by requesting help finding an English speaking roommate. He needs to practice speaking since he lives by himself and it is getting hard for him to practice speaking.  I gave him some suggestions. He is willing to allow the roommate live rent free in exchange of English conversation. I told him to watch TV and he likes to see comedies. He does not like news and radio, prefers action movies but the fast English is hard to understand.

We practice some daily life words like shaving, clothing, gasoline (Benzene), suitcase, beard, bag, move, sink, faucet, etc.

He has difficulty understanding words and he uses his phone dictionary a lot. He is working hard and I see his concern about progress.  I told him to keep trying because he has made a lot of progress.

Lesson Learned: Noticed that he is happy when I show interest on learning his language. When I present him with a new word he writes the Saudi equivalent and I pronounce it. He needs to work harder on his productive language acquisition skills.
