Zoe TP #4

My second meeting with Wei was great! He's older than I am and his English is actually very good. He told me that he wants to focus on his listening and speaking skills, since he already has years of formal training in composition and grammar. For this session, I compiled a list of thirty interview-style questions. For example, I asked him what his relationship with his family is like, then asked if he had ever eaten glue as a child. These questions took up the entire hour. He appreciated the opportunity to have such an extensive conversation in English, and I really enjoyed learning about Chinese culture! We also got the chance to review some less-common vocabulary words, such as "extensive." I'm starting to realize that certain things, such as Harry Potter and Michael Jordan, are massively famous on a global-level, even in non-English-speaking countries. I guess I always knew that on some level, but it's kind of mind-blowing to think that some interests can translate so well!
