We began our tutoring session by going over one of Claire's class assignments where she had to add "pre" "un" or "re" to words. Claire got a 100% on her class assignment, but we still went over it anyway. Claire and I then thought of a few more words with these prefixes. After that activity, Claire and I read our first book about the ocean and the food chains it contained. This book was very easy for her to read. Once we finished the book Claire and I went over plural and possessive nouns. We went through the book again to search for these types of nouns to introduce them to her. He was familiar with making nouns plural and knew how to add and apostrophe to create a possessive noun. We did a few activities to perfect thee skills. After I noticed how easy this was for Claire I attempted to teach her how to add an apostrophe to the end of a word, following the "s". This was a little bit more difficult for Claire, but I think she understood it fairly well after the activities. We finished our session by reading another book about the ocean and how photosynthesis works with phytoplankton.
