Milton_TP_#5
Student Name: Ramon Matos Date: Monday, February 2-2015 Location:
CIES, 5:30pm.
Skill – Reflexive Pronouns, Possessive adjectives, Personal
Pronouns and Speaking - (pronunciation).
We practice the use of Personal pronouns – he, she, me, you
and it. He had sentences with blanks for practice with several choices. I tried
to remind him the need to become familiar with words related to male or female,
an easy source of errors for personal pronoun students.
Possessive adjectives, (my, your, his, her) combined with
subject pronouns (I, you, he, she, it). Ramon had a series of sentences for
practice. He did quite well with few errors. We used an internet site with
examples, tolearnenglish.com
and used a higher level of pronouns and possessive adjectives exercises and
Ramon did quite well.
The reflexive pronouns are harder for him and with more
practice he will dominate the subject, (myself, yourself , himself , herself , oneself
, ourselves, yourselves). Error example - Please, forward the information to myself. A reflexive pronoun is a special kind of pronoun
that is usually used when the object of a sentence is the same as the subject.
Each personal pronoun (such as "I", "you" and
"she") has its own reflexive form.
We tried the site grammar.monter.com and found
lots of exercises for reflexive pronouns.
He practiced converting
simple present sentences to simple past. No problem he dominates the subject.
Ramon decided to take the
TOFEL test and he is taking a class and spending long hours doing exercises. He
has a PhD in statistics and he loves to teach. He is also studying for the GRE
test with the intention of getting into graduate school. He’s goal is to complete
a master degree at FSU. He is a mature hard working student and motivated for
success.
Lesson Learned: I will help Ramon finding short stories that
he can read and summarize for his reading class. He needs help with
pronunciation. I will emphasize the importance of paying attention of which
vowel or consonant carries the weight of the pronunciation. In our Hispanic culture
we tend to make silent some consonants and that is a big source of
pronunciation errors in English.
