Elyce TP#1

On Wednesday January 14th, I had my first tutoring session with my child tutee, Zoe Oh. Upon Arrival at the Oh residence, Zoe's mother asked if I would be able to tutor her other daughter Rina as well. Both girls were very sweet and spoke english very well, despite only moving here from Korea just over a year ago.

Per request of Mrs. Oh, the girls and I played one of their favorite board games and we conversed in english so that they could practice speaking. Zoe and Rina both told me about themselves, and told me about how they had taken a vacation to Mexico during Winter break. When we finished playing the game, I reviewed the girls' homework. Because it was the beginning of the semester, they did not have much work to complete. We also went over flashcards of sight words, and I helped them with their pronunciation on words that they had trouble with. Lastly, Zoe showed me a story she had written in class, and I helped her edit it and corrected her mistakes.

Both girls speak very good english, but I did notice that they have trouble pronouncing certain words. Next time I think that I will bring a book that I think might interest them, and have them practice reading to me. I also will help them more with their schoolwork, as they will begin to have more wor as the semester progresses.
