My third tutoring session saw a drastic improvement from our second. We went over two of his homework assignments that he had struggled with- one was about space and the other about North American geography. PJ told me during our first tutoring session that science was his favorite subject and I can definitely see that. We were able to get through the passages well, and many of the questions that he answered wrong he seemed to understand once he slowed down to answer them. I think he tends to rush through writing/ reading assignments. He asked more in depth questions about his articles so we pulled up pictures of the solar system and different planets for some reference.
I pulled up similar maps and charts for his North American geography pamphlet too. Pulling up pictures and videos of the geography definitely makes it more understandable and brings it down to a real level.
After reviewing his homework we had a few minutes at the end of our session and played hangman. He played the word 'backyard' and totally beat me.
