Date/Time: 1/26/15 1 pm
Location: CIES
Topic/Skill: TOEFL
Feedback provided to tutee: Vocab building, Listening and Reading exercises

For this lesson I met again with Shuo in the CIES lounge. We worked on finishing the "Early Cinema" TOEFL practice set. She seemed to understand the reading, but we also went over several cultural concepts that she did not understand. This lesson was good because I was able implement some techniques I had learned for completing standardized tests, such as elimination and marking the text.

After we finished the reading exercise, we worked on TOEFL listening. We listened to a passage about a college student who visited the registrars office. These TOELF tests are hard! I had a hard time remember the conversation and was unsure about several of the answers myself. But, I understand that they can listen to sections several times. We had a discussion about the role of the registrar and my experience with admission at FSU and having to go the registrar to make sure that I would graduate.
