Benjamin_TP_#6

Date/Time: 1/21/15 12 am
Location: Outside in front of Strozier
Topic/Skill: TOEFL Reading exercise
Feedback provided to tutee: Vocabulary building, pronunciation help,
Lesson:

I met Marvin in front of Strozier. This time he brought his friend Alex with him, who is also from Burkina Faso. I did not know she was coming. The weather was nice and I do not think they have access to Strozier, so we did the tutoring session outside.

With Marvin I was able to get through the whole TOEFL reading exercise. With Shuo earlier this day, we only made it about half way through. I am not sure why Marvin is in the lower class, because he was able to read the reading quite readily and understood it all. His English is much better than I thought it would be because he is in the first group. We worked a lot on pronunciation, because I know that he has to do better on the speaking portion of the TOEFL exam.

Alex listened in on the lesson and I asked her questions about herself. We talk about Burkina Faso, about the recent revolution there. They are both quiet but friendly and very intelligent. Marvin has a composition due soon, so I told him for next time, I will help him with this outline and writing the essay. Alex has a presentation due soon, and I got her email so that I could meet with her and help here with that.
